Shark Diving

Want to help save sharks? Proving they are more valuable alive than dead by getting into the water with them helps. But there is also a lot more you can do.

If you dive with sharks, they’ve undoubtedly stolen your heart. And they need all the help they can get. Your personal experience with sharks has given you an immense power to help them. Please help us strengthen our common voice and gain worldwide support for sharks. It’s easy to make a difference and your experiences only add to your credibility.

  1. Learn more & share. Increase your Shark IQ. Learn more, then teach others. Being able to show your videos, images and experiences really helps remove a huge obstacle in shark conservation (people’s fear of sharks) and also a great shot of you and a shark is an easy foray into a good conversation about the state of sharks without pushing the issue.
  2. Earn your wings! Write a guest blog and/or send us videos and pictures. We’ll happily share them. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  3. Fuel the Movement: Donate and support our campaigns. Any amount helps. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  4. Spread the word: Educate others and share our message. Develop a loud voice. Blog, Twitter, Facebook, and help others experience what you did!
  5. Join Us: Become a shark angel. Sign up for our mailing list. Volunteer with us. Next time you go shark diving, bring materials and a presentation to talk to other divers.
  6. Build momentum: Ask the local dive operator if they’d like to get more involved in the shark angels. We can provide educational materials for their clients and would love help spreading the word.
  7. Gather Intel: Send us information on the state of sharks and the operator and experience. We’d love to hear from you.
  8. Contribute to Science
  9. Act locally: Start a local Fin Free chapter – or join one. Become empowered through our online community and tools. Having an in-water experience with sharks always makes your voice stronger.
  10. Go diving again! Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to join you. Come on a shark diving trip with the angels.
  11. Become a local shark ambassador. Ask local businesses to stop selling shark. It’s easy! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. And take your business elsewhere. Do not support businesses that sell shark. Respectfully inform the owners of your concerns.
  12. Reach out to Kids! Get the local youth involved! It is their future after all. Go to a school and talk about shark diving – and sharks in general.
  13. Write an email on behalf of sharks. Send a letter or email to an organization selling, distributing or manufacturing shark product to educate and bring about change. You can use our letters…
  14. Make your vote count. Even if you aren’t living in country that is heavily consuming sharks, chances are, your country is part of the problem. The US and many countries in the EU are responsible for catching more sharks than most other countries in the world. Support legislation that stops shark fishing, protects shark habitats, and ends overfishing. It’s not just about the sharks – it’s about the oceans.

You can and should make a difference before there aren’t any sharks left for future generations to experience the oceans in the manner you did. In fact, that’s what Shark Angels is all about. Destroying sharks and the oceans isn't a legacy we want to leave for future generations. Do you?
