- Name your shark. Enter the name you want to give your adopted shark. You’ll put it on the certificate, we’ll put it on the wall.
- Enter the recipient’s name. This is the person the shark is being adopted for.You’ll put it on the certificate, we’ll put it on the wall.
- Select the shark species. This is just for the adoption wall!
- Complete your adoption. Your digital certificate will be delivered by email.
- Join the adoption family. The recipient and shark will be added to our online Shark Adoption Wall.

This is a symbolic shark adoption. It does not represent ownership of a shark and is not connected to an individually tagged or trackable wild shark.
Rather than funding a commercial shark-tracking subscription, your adoption supports the mentorship, education and conservation work needed to create long-term change for sharks.

Can I name my adopted shark?
Yes. Enter the name you want to give your shark when completing the adoption. The shark’s name will appear on the Adoption Wall.
Who is the adoption recipient?
The adoption recipient is the person the shark is being adopted for. This may be you or someone receiving the adoption as a gift. The recipient’s name will appear on the certificate and Adoption Wall.
Will I receive a plush shark?
No. This is a digital-only adoption. If you would like a plush shark and physical adoption package, please choose our Plush Shark Adoption Kit.
Can I track my adopted shark?
No. Shark Angels adoptions are symbolic and are not linked to individually tagged or trackable sharks. But we’ll send you updates on the interns you sponsor! Simply sign up for our Monthly Chomp.
How will I receive the certificate?
After your order is processed, the downloadable adoption certificate will be sent by email. Please check your spam or junk folder if you do not see the email. You can email us as well if you don’t receive it at angels@sharkangels.org.
Can I print the certificate?
Yes. You can save the certificate, email it to the recipient or print it at home.
Does a virtual shark adoption help sharks?
Yes. Your adoption our five year old Shark Conservation Internship and Mentorship Program, which gives emerging conservationists real-world experience and skills to amplify their impact for sharks.
How do I know it’s authentic?
